Good Afternoon All, We're looking into getting a slide cover for our 2017 179. Has anyone used the Pahaque? If so, Please let us know what you think about it.

I don't have the Pahaque slide cover. I made my own. However, it is similar enough for me to render an opinion as they both use the same rail for mounting the trailer end.

The rain gutters on the end of the rail will make it more difficult to install/remove the cover. I have done so a number of times now, and it doesn't get any easier. It is, after all, a totally manual cover. It does not roll up when you are ready to roll. It must be removed. For both installing and removing, you will want a ladder. We found one that was previously owned by someone with a motor home. It was too short for them, so we got it at a good price. It folds in both directions, so it stores in a small space.

You will possibly also need two people to install it. Pahaque's cover may use a stiff enough keder strip that it can be pushed through the channel. I used a rope, so my wife pulls while I feed the cover into the channel. Since I don't own the Pahaque, I can't say for sure.

I saved money by making my own. However, one of these days, I will probably spring for a permanently installed cover that will extend/retract automatically. You can see the cover I made in my mods. The link to them is in my signature.

I have one, I like it. A little mod to open up "flare" the entry point of the track and it slips on in like 15 seconds. The bungees could use some work and the metal eyelets bang against the POD in the wind. Sounds like rocks hitting the side. I consider those very minor issues and will figure a work around. The pros are that it's light, folds and stores good. I also believe it provide better protection on the sides compared to an slide topper. Also, toppers are generally rated at a certain MPH of wind before probably damage. The Pa Ha Que, not so much. Cost and ease of installation is also a big benefit.

I posted this in the wrong thread, so here it is again:

I had a PaHaQue slider topper for my 177 (have since sold both.) I honestly avoided using it after about the second time. It seems simple to put on, but I had to bring a stepladder, get up there and wiggle it into the smaller keder rail, manage all of the cords and then I dumped water on myself removing it after a rain. It was also a hassle to keep clean and dry before storing. Just my two cents.

The elastic cords that tie it down to the trailer aren't very robust. Two of them broke the first time we tried to use it. As a poster above mentioned, it also requires bringing a stepladder.

We bit the bullet for a Carefree of Colorado automatic slide cover and couldn't be happier.
