You are so right! Thanks to John Muir, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and others, for their conservation efforts!

Don't forget to mention the guy who really started it all--President Ulysses S. Grant, who signed into law protections for Yellowstone, March 1, 1872.  That was the "beginning" of the National Park Service, although it took until 1916 to get their current name.

Our first trip to Yellowstone was in 1968 (1st ann.)  we have been back 5-6 times since  then. 1st. time there were bears every where last time 2yrs. ago only saw 2 , we said on our 1st trip there  that we were coming back on our 50th ann. and staying in the lodge   so we are taking  the whole family back next Aug. kids and grand kids  already have reservations made, with some camping and staying in Old Faithful Lodge. !st trip we rented a small pop up with one  bed ( tent on wheels) took coleman stove the better half gave me for our first Christmas and a cooler . taking the same coleman stove and going in the Pod next year ,

As much as I'm thrilled with the conservation of the parks, http://motherboard.vice.com/read/yosemite-national-park-used-to-be-30-percent-bigger - this sobering article uncovers how much we need to be diligent in protecting what we originally were preserving.

My first National Park System experience was chasing the girls up and down the steps of the Washington Monument sometime mid-1960's. Took me 30 more years to finally catch one!

Thanks bjk. Yes as much as we all appreciate and use both national, state and county park systems we should not take them for granted and do everything we can to preserve and protect them.

That said, I got me one of those Senior Passes this year!!! What an incredible perk for owning a Pod!!
