Have read on here previously that hitch height should be about 18 1/2 inches to top of ball, without risers. Picking up a new 180 on Wednesday, which has the new axle for more clearance. What change does that make to the desired height of the hitch. Just want to be prepared.

Regardless of your hitch height, the important thing to remember is that your pod should be level to preferably "nose down" a bit when on the level, this will make for a better tow and reduce any sway you may incur. Even doing that we still use a sway bar on our 177, towed by a Explorer.

Welcome. +1 on Jato's comments (still waiting to see some pics of a jato on your pod!)

That would be quite a site. Read that someone actually installed a jato on their vehicle. They had the dubious distinction of being a winner of the Darwin award a few years ago. It took place somewhere out west and once the jato was (jet assist take off) ignited, the car became airborn for quite some distance until it ran smack into the side of a mountain! Not many of the car parts were retrieved and even less of the driver was ever found. Crazy stuff, what some people do for kicks. Doug, you won't see me with a jato on my 177.
