Virgin newbie here.  Looking (and researching) an older R-Pod, a basic '09 M-151.  Size and price are the drivers of this selection.  Any advice, suggestions, and shared knowledge would be appreciated.  Have not pulled the trigger on this transaction yet, so please provide your wisdom.  Don't be reticent in providing things to watch out for and other gotchas.

I know other forums often blast newbies for not doing an initial search before asking for assistance; I've searched M-151 and get nothing.  If there's a "correct" way to search, then let me know.
Thanks!

I have been lurking around here for a couple of weeks and have only recently joined. I have seen very little of the abuse you normally see on discussion boards. This is a pretty awesome group.

I can only give you information in a general sense. I have owned RV's and Boats and there's a few things to watch for.

Check all the seams, all the windows all the doors, make sure everything is sealed correctly. Floors need to be checked from stem to stern for soft spots. Get under it and look around for anything that looks rusted, softened, broken wires, etc. Check all electrical devices. Look in places people dont normally look. Look for repairs (especially ones that were not done well.)

I am sure others will chime in.

Hello PoundandahalfZ,

Just search for "151".

If I were buying an '09, I would want to know how much wear and tear the R-Pod had received. It was probably the first model year and there have been many advances in production since then.

Cheers,

David

09 is the first "model year". So.. it's as old as a pod can be pretty much. Look for signs of water leaks. That's an issue with any and every camper ever built. Caught early, they are no biggie.. but if not corrected, they can and will destroy a camper in a couple years. Or quicker.

Check the tires. If they are still what came from FR, they will need to be changed (IMHO before it's towed ANYWHERE) Also, has the clearance light recall been done. It will have lights on the fenders, and on a spoiler on the back roof if it has. The recall is free to have done, but it could be a bargaining chip for some $$ off if it hasn't been done and you will have to go through the hassle of doing it now..Wink

We looked at a 151 when they first came out. In fact it was the only floor plan available at the time. Unworkable kitchen for a 6 footer. We weren't fond of the no permanent bed either. Kitchen in the slide and permanent bed of the 177 that came out a year later sealed the deal for us.

Welcome.  No bashing of newbies here and no such thing as a dumb question.

BTW.. the "M" is probably the issue with your search, while "151" should work fine, pod floor plan numbers start with "RP".. ie: RP-151

But nearly everyone just uses the "1xx"

Thanks, to all.....some great suggestions here; still trying to decide if this R-Pod will meet our needs.  Will keep the board informed.
Also, thanks for the model number decoding.  Dropped the "M-" off the 151 and got multiple responses.
