Ok Group

I am just getting to checking out my 179 that I bought new in April. Had some family health issues that held the wife and I up from getting out since we bought the Rpod.

I filled the water system tonight (not the tank) and started the water heater on gas. After a few minutes I went to check the water heater out and knew that steel exterior door would be hot but WOW, it was really hot. I then touched the fiberglass above the exterior door and it was so hot I could not touch it.

I have a mechanical back ground and understand the water heaters workings however I don't think it should be so hot the fiberglass cannot be touched.

I posted on the Facebook site but did not get an answer yet that I need.

Any thoughts any of you have will be most appreciated.
Thanks
Patriot Dave

We bought ours in April as well.  We have been on three trips so far, I only used the gas portion of the hot water heater for one weekend but I don't recall it making the side of te camper so hot I couldn't touch it. The black metal door gets hot but not the camper. I'm going to pay a little closer attention to it next time we camp though.

I agree that the siding shouldn't be hot.  I've never felt just above any WH we've had while it is firing but it just doesn't sound right.

The flue feeds into the fresh air vent located just a few inches below the side wall. It heats up, but it shouldn't get so hot that you can't touch it.

What does that mean?  Did you hook up to city water (and not fill the on board 30 gallon tank)?  But you did fill the water heater, I hope.  If not, that might be the problem.
