Subject: How do we light pilot light?

We just got a new tank of propane to run our refrigerator (boondocking). The pilot has not lit on its own; do we light it? 'Fridge will only run on battery right now. We bled lines by lighting stove, the tank is "open". Thanks for help.

I'm glad you figured it out, especially since there is no pilot light. It is a spark ignition. It will only burn when cooling is needed. Big smile

Just be aware that if you are running on propane, your refrigerator will take a good 24 hours to cool down.  In my experience, it will cool down faster if you're connected to shore power and the fridge is running on AC power.

That was something the tech told me when I did my walk through when I got mine.   Plug the trailer in and turn the firdge to shore a good 24 hours before heading out.   I usually turn it on a day before I am going to load it up so everything is nice and cold before switching to battery/propane for the road.

Thanks for the feedback and education everyone. What was happening was the propane and alert icons were blinking/beeping on the 'fridge. Although we were doing the suggested steps, it finally resolved when I pushed the alert icon button! The flame lit outside, the gas was running. That is all it took! Since we're boondocking, there is no shore power.

Glad you got it working!  When things don't work, it seems like the intensity of it is multiplied when you're out on the road.

Yeah, we discovered the usefulness of pressing the alert button on our fridge too.

The fridge will cool off even faster if you load it with cold items. Make sure it's nothing terribly perishable because the items will heat up some while the fridge cools down, but things like pre-chilled water bottles, soda cans, or factory-sealed condiments will do the trick.
