Subject: Can't flush black tank
Date Posted: 30 Jun 2016 at 11:43pm
So my owners manual doesn't really tell me how to use the sewer tank flush. I opened up the black tank, hooked up water to the flush connection and turned on the water. Nothing came out. I am now pushing water through my toilet. Can we do better?

Thanks

There should be a little handle on the side of the pipe, near the end, that you pull out AFTER you've hooked up your drain hose.  Have you done that yet?

something other than the blade valve for the black tank?  This is open.

There has been post from others that had the same problem that when you hook your garden hose up to the black water tank flush that nothing comes out. It turns out that the inline check valve is installed backwards and so no water can flow to the black tank.

I have the same issue. can the inline check valve be fixed by a techno dummy, or should I have the dealer fix?

If getting to the dealer is convenient and it can be scheduled quickly, then it would be good to let the dealer do it. If, on the other hand, the dealer is a distance away and they tell you that it can't be done for several weeks, and you can handle simple tools, then by all means, do it yourself. I did not have the problem, but others have said that it is a simple job. The hardest part is getting to it.

There was also a reported issue where the hose was severely kinked, not allowing water to flow.

You would think FR would have these down pat by now and at least do enough training to keep the quality up to a higher or somewhat high standard.

I wonder how many RVs FR makes.  And what the percentage of units that have this problem is what?

If people make things there will be an occasional mistake.  I know I make them, but apparently you do not.

Oh no I do make mistakes when I'm doing something for the first time but I learn from them and and don't if I were to make something in repetition 5 days a week it would be like breathing do I make a mistake breathing nope by now I know how I have been in manufacturing for military you get really good at what you do and take a great pride in what you do mistakes can be very rare but then again I don't drink or do drugs don't take meds and eat only healthy food no garbage

Having spent a career in manufacturing, with some of it making vehicles for the military, I know two things:
1. If rPods were made under a military contract they would cost $300,000.
2. They would be delivered with at least as many problems as current production, and FR would charge the government in another contract to fix the problems.

My point is for the amount of product made there are few problems.

3. You would be unable to camp in them for years as software and hardware updates were made to meet the original specs.  (cough F-35 cough)

The weapons system I worked with my entire military career did not work,  It required millions in additional contracts from the prime contractor to eventually fix the problems.

The last vehicle I was involved with for the military required five semi trailers filled with bankers boxes of bid documents.

And it won't be long before that same government wants to manage all of your healthcare for you...

Just saying.

This is a better link on the issue. Getting access to this valve will be interesting. Way under the sink. Might be able to access it through the panel on the other side of the wall.
