THis will be our first camp trailer, hope it works good for us. Will be picking up a 2015 179, has been used three times, this Thursday. Got it for 7k less than a 2017 so we jumped right on it. Will be towing it with a 09 v6 4Runner so hopefully it will work alright. We were told the 15 and 17 are identical so we are hoping this is true as we have not seen the trailer yet. Hope to learn a lot form this site.

Similar, yes. Identical, definitely not. For one thing, starting with the 2016 models (but after my 2016 was built), Forest River (FR) changed from a top-mount plastic sink to an under-mounted stainless steel sink. FR also started putting on a Fastaway Flip Foot (mine lacks that also). Some interior colors may be different also. I'm not sure when FR started using LED lights. The interior lights on my 2016 are all LED lights. The only incandescent bulbs are those for the side and fender marker lights plus the amber patio area and hitch-assist lights.

Despite the differences, they are enough alike that you should be happy with it. My mods link in my signature shows some of the mods I have made on our 179. We really like it.

I kind of figured that they had to have changed some things in two years but I guess for the price difference we can live with them.

Congratulations on your purchase!  We bought a 2015 in December and it is our first trailer, too.  You'll love it.

Congratulations on your 179! We just jumped up from a Teardrop trailer to a 2016 179, gently used. We are so happy with it! Happy trails!

You folks from Oregon need to take your pods over to the Blue Mtns.  No one goes there - everyone is over on the coast.  We are often the only ones in the NF campgrounds.

We have taken our teardrop all over the eastside including the Blues. I grew up about 75 miles from the top of Cabbage hill. We have yet to get over there with the GrimPod but hope too soon!!....The Ochocos in Central Oregon are our destination this weekend!

Well first trip done, so much nicer than sleeping in a tent. Found three things that need fixed though. Some staples came out of one of the walls, the one tail light has some LEDs that are not working, and we had a bunch of condensation on the inside wall of the slide out when we woke up in the morning. Not sure if the top of the slide out is going in as far as it should either seems like the cauking around it is bubbling out. Good thing we got the 5 year warranty.

Condensation - always leave the vent open an inch and a window open an inch.

yep the extended warranty is already paying it's way. These are not "bad" trailers just a lot of little things may pop up that need addressed!!....glad your first trip was a success!!

techntrek, thank you so much for the advice on how to prevent condensation! I get up every morning and wipe all the windows down with much frustration. This info is greatly appreciated. Happier trails for sure!
