Hello,  does anyone have a picture or idea of what the new (coming in Sep.) Rpod color schemes will be?  A dealer told me that they would be silver and blue on the outside.  Supposedly there was a picture on the R-pod Facebook site that was removed.   Does anyone have this picture?   I don't and won't do the Facebook thing, so hopefully someone on this site can help.

Does it have a traditional awning, while I like the green of of my 2016, I would love a traditional awning.

It looks nice, but I rather prefer the green/brown color scheme of our 2016 179. The awning is nice, but given the price of them, I built my own. It is one of my mods, link in my signature.

Edit: Looking at the picture, I'm not sure how what looks like an awning would work. I don't see any support framework. It would be interesting to see it deployed.

I'm assuming the awning would be similar to the one I had on our previous popup, which was self-supporting.  It unrolled from a zipper bag, and at the end were telescoping legs that clipped into the bottom of the camper.

By the way, the post on the FB page I took this picture from showed another R-pod with this color scheme.  This one looks like it's a 179 or 180.  The other shot was of a smaller Pod--perhaps a 178.  It did not have an awning.  The 179/180 has a longer flat section on the roof.  I don't think the shorter roofs of the 178 (and lower) models would accommodate an awning like that.

The awning has me intrigued.

It looks like a roll up and not very wide, maybe 8-9'.

I have a '16 179. I was about to pull the trigger on a Pahaque visor but maybe I'll have to wait to find out what this looks like first.

Just my opinion here, but if you're going to buy Paha Que,  I'd get their awning, not the visor.....works much better with the 179.

Hello everyone! Just joining and looking forward to purchasing my first Rpod. I live in the Central Texas area. After seeing the new color I'm going to wait for the RV show in Round Rock in October to see what new models and colors they carry. I'm looking into the 182 G with the outdoor kitchen area since it would allow easier access when camping. We only have one dealership in the area but hoping other dealers in Texas start carrying the Rpod brand. Does anyone have tips, suggestions, advice on what models would work best? I'm also planning on pulling it with a 2011 pilot. I just hope it'll do the job! Thanks an advance for all the assistance and can't wait to get one!

There was a posting overnight in another group showing some official literature on the 2017 changeover. Blue/white exterior as well as a window in the door. Optional Thule retractable awning and a host of other smaller changes.

I'll be all over this awning too as an add-on to my 179.

This is how it'll work.

When the price is released I'll get sticker shock, I'll complain about the price, say I'm never paying that much, talk myself into sticking with my EZ up, research other options, admire the new awnings when I see them in the dealer, then pull the pin and have it installed next spring.

It'll be a 10 month process but I know myself, that's how it'll all go down.

Ok, this is a little better looking than I originally thought...and the awning is much better than I thought.  Does anyone know if the r-dome is still an option and would there be a way to have both options (obviously only deploying one or the other).

I like the new color (I'm a life long Royals fan and it's almost powder blue Clap so I am fine with that) and I LOVE the idea of having the traditional awning. Now what sucks is waiting for the new editions to hit dealers here in the KC area. Angry
Patience is not a strong suit.
I do wonder what other changes might be in store ... I know the under mount sink was a mid year edition to the 2016's ... maybe there are more goodies.

Does anyone know if rpod will take customized orders on specific colors or is that not an option? I also like the multi color loops design I've seen on someone's post in this forum!

That awning is actually really, really cool.  Love the dual options for planting the poles.  Without seeing it in person I still really like the green and r-dome combination.  I better see if I can sell my Roo quickly before the current colors are gone.  I can totally see why a majority would prefer the new color/awning though.

I've spoken to a few dealers on what we might expect with new pricing.  Most are sticking close to what we see and expect now.  Of course all dealers can and will set the prices that work for them, but a few that are well known for having steady and readily available pricing are quoting only a bit more than the previous models in pricing.

If you want to be in one by the end of October and  you want the new one you probably would want to get started on buying and ordering it now.  Production on the new models will start in just a few weeks and it will take a while before the first ones off the production line aren't already ordered and headed towards certain dealer lots.

Depending on how set you are on wanting a specific floor model, when new comes in and old goes out, you can sometimes get a better deal on the one going out.   If you have to order (versus buying what is on the lot) then it is a different story.

Thanks for the input. I talked to the dealer today and he did state there would be an increase....not sure of the amount. Something about the awning and a power jack(didn't know there was going to be a elelctric jack) They have 4 180s in stock and we are ok with the green/tan. Wife likes the awning but its not a deal breaker for her. Looks like we just need to decide if we are going to buy now or just hold off till next year.
I have a big sports car event to attend at the end of October but I can just use my old pop up if needed....My 7 year love affair with rpods is getting the best of me :)

Thanks for posting the price list!  I sold my current camper so I have the flexibility now of jumping quick for the old model or waiting until spring on the new.  Pretty torn.

Really prefer the green color and likely better price on outgoing model.
Love the glass stove cover and window in the door of current model.

Getting the r-dome either way so awning is a non-issue.  Any rumors of any other changes in the new production?  *****NEVER MIND...found rpod spotters excellent summary of changes

One thing I have noticed, is that the new awning is not available on the 18' models (171, 172, 177). I was torn between a 177 and 179, but I want the awning. It looks like a 179 will be the choice. We have an awning similar to the Rdome for our T@b, but don't use it because it is too much of a pain to set up and can't be used if it's windy.

Just so you know, you don't want that awning out if it's windy either.. and I have seen plenty of domes, including ours, handle +35mph winds, when properly erected and staked.

I am about to pull the trigger on a 176T. I'm being told by the dealer that it's "on order" and due to be done around the end of September. They have told me over the phone it will be the new blue version, but nothing in the documentation says that -- just that it's a "2017 176T." They are telling me the Thule box awning is an option, so that makes me think it's the new version (with the glass stove cover).

Are all of the ones coming out of both factories going to be the new versions from here on out? Just want to make sure.

Separate question -- I'm going to be getting it hauled up to Alaska right after purchase, where it will sit through the winter. Should I wait and buy in January? I won't really *need* it until next May, but would sure like to have it by March/April of next year so I can start getting it prepped for the summer.

Once production of the blue ones starts, that is all they will build from then onward, until the next round of changes. 18 months or so. They build in batches, Pods for a while, then Surveyors. If the awning is an option (that I wouldn't choose myself) then it's from the next production run, and will be blue. As far as when to buy.. since I doubt you are going to be taking it back to the dealer for warranty work, pickup time doesn't matter, so I would go with whatever fits your schedule, or when there are cheaper shipping rates..

Thanks for responding. I guess what I'm trying to make sure is that production of the blue ones has started at both factories, or more importantly that production of the green ones have stopped.

We live in the Midwest and would have preferred, but were not able to get a Hood River Edition locally. We are wondering, however, if we would be able to add the Thule awning to our 180. Can someone tell us who carries and installs them? Rpod dealers?  Any RV dealer?

Does anyone know what having one installed does to your warranty?

Does anyone know the weight of this awning or have a website link to more info about them?  I've done a lot of online searches, but am coming up short of good, detailed info about them.

The awnings are not able to be retrofitted to pods other than the blue pod. They added extra bracing in the frame of the walls to support the weight that is not present in earlier year pods.

When you are entering your message, look up at the icons on the bar above. Look for one that looks like a globe with a chain link. When you click on it, it opens a dialog box into which you can enter your link like this:
https://youtu.be/7F18dEyPZCY - https://youtu.be/7F18dEyPZCY

If you really want to get fancy, type some text and highlight it, then click the icon, and substitute the link for the text in the dialog box like this:

I'm using my netbook. The editor should work the same for the iPad.

You have a problem with the link. You need to have it either http:// or https://, but not both. If you are pasting into the dialog box, you need to check and delete the https://. Use the dialog box drop-down to change the http:// to https:// if needed.

http://https://youtu.be/JvRxxM_OV0M then becomes http://youtu.be/JvRXxM_OV0M - http://youtu.be/JvRXxM_OV0M

If you are using the BBcodes on a tablet or phone, you will have the start and end tags URL /URL. Type the link between them like this: URLhttp://youtu.be/JxRXxM_OV0M/URL. I left the brackets off so that it will show up instead of getting converted to a link. It is not intuitive, but will be simple once you do it a few times.

I guess that was obvious once you corrected me. Sorry to clutter this posting all. Thank you for your patience. I'm hoping to be part of a rally or just in the Rpod " gang " should be ready to buy next fall. Hard times but I'm coming back.

Hopefully, the hard times are now past. It took a number of years before we could purchase ours. It is good as when we were younger, R-Pods didn't exist.

There is a show about an hour from where we leave week after next.  Wanting to go.  Hoping to get to look at pods without the pressure of sales.  If we go, I will get and post photos.

Thanks for the photos.  I'm so bummed because it does not look like the R-Pods will be at the RV show we had planned on going to.   The only upside is I did find a dealer that is on our way to our tent camping spot so we may stop there.  I want to get inside of one so I can get a feel for it.   And "old" green one is better than nothing.

Why on the front of the r-pods on the right side have the full black stripe across the lower front and the ones on the left have a narrow stripe across the front? I like the colors better too from the 2009 colors that was on the r-pod we had. The colors remind me of my brothers "diamond blue" 1968 Volkswagen beetle.

I suspect that the ones on the right have the protective plate installed and the ones on the left do not yet have it installed. Likewise, the three on the left have electric jacks and the one on the right has a manual jack.

Ok, I'm confused. There seem to be some new models with blue tops and some with gray. Does anyone know which will be the new model? Might the Oregon models, (HRE), be gray and Indiana models blue?

We ordered a 2017.5 180.
Don't care if it's Blue - or Green or Orange or Paisley!
Just excited to be getting an RPod (first RV).

ANY R-Pod color scheme.... factory fresh or years old is great. To me, that runs from Cool Blue '17 to Techntrek's distinctive swirl pattern design, or a design I haven't spotted yet. Main thing is they all have the original rugged teardrop design with modern features that certainly revved up the copy-cat manufacturers.

It's currently feeling good to be in this Forest River subset of people who tend to help each other out. If I see a Podder somewhere out there struggling with some issue, I'm game to set out an orange cone or two, or just bring over a useful tool if desired. Plus we have this great online forum.

More often than not this season, I've received friendly waves back from the oncoming lane from a Podder, if they're looking. And it's also great to see young couples tugging their Pods, new and old down the road.

The season is close to "wound down" now, but come spring, it'll be once again time to explore some new nugget of Canada or USA that's new to us. Continued lower gas prices have been a nice bonus. Keep it safe out there, and if you've lowered your scissor jacks at a great spot, if you can, stay that extra day. Life goes by quickly.

From this near-newbie: Welcome 'Bama (and your Podpets).

The Oregon made HRE Pods will have the grey roof and a yellow swoosh on the sides, the Indiana made R-Pods will have the blue roof and should be absent the yellow swoosh.

There are a very few limited, and I mean less than 5 probably HRE R-Pods that will have the blue roof on them.  They were the first ones made for the Forest River open house before production began in Oregon.

So if you're into collectors item's if you see an HRE with a blue roof or buy one of those yourself know that you have a rare Pod.

Could just be the glare from the flash making the blue top look gray?Save

I heard from a local dealer that they are having problems with the blue paint fading on the new R Pods and they are working on it. New trailers won't be available in the midwest until March or so in 2017. Anyone buying a new one or have ordered one already should be aware.

How does the paint color fade since there hasn't been warm weather for some time? Interesting.

The blue roofs have been phased out of the R-Pod line starting with the most recent production run, they will all have the same diamond ice/greyish roofs now going forward.

Also ALL R-Pods now will have the 15" wheels on them, also starting with this most recent production run.

Ok. Thank you. I went to the Forest River website and the photos of the R pods now do show a grey roof and front end as you have remarked.
