Just curious but why don't they use disk brakes for the trailer axles?

Cost and complexity. As far as I know, the only TT that comes with disc brakes are some of the bigger Airstreams.

The magnetic drum brakes are about 15% of the cost of a hydraulic over electric disc brake system.
