I know some people here have come up with some imaginative ways of replacing the panel below the fridge on the 179 that comes loose as items shift in transit.

I decided to keep the panel and use a different attachment method. I attached two self-closing cabinet hinges that allow the panel to swing back as items shift into it. Also, retrieving items that have fallen behind the panel is a lot easier.

My solution was to get some anchors, the kind with the white plastic "wings" that you insert, then use a plug to expand the "wings." I used screw caps and washers to dress it up.

The anchors in the frame hold much more securely than the original screws in the aluminum frame, yet are flexible enough to give a little if it encounters resistance. I had originally thought about using hinges, but couldn't quite figure out how to make it work like I wanted. Your way is good if it encounters resistance while retracting the slide-out. I wanted it to be able to flex when extending as well, but couldn't quite figure out how to do that.

We went with hinges.  A good feature is that when we break camp and something has fallen behind (it happens), no damage occurs as the slide closes.
