Wow, we didn't figure that one out until our 3rd time out.  Replaced it with a EuroTop mattress from camping world.  A bit pricey but is worth the comfort.  Have had it almost 5 years now and find it just as COMFORTABLE now as when we first bought it.

We picked up from Amazon a Parklane Mattress PSR6074 60" X 74" Premium Pillowtop Mattress. Its a very good mattress and a lot cheaper when we got it

The memory foam topper from Costco worked well.  Had to cut 6" off the end - a searated cake knife worked well for that.

We paid $100 for a gel memory foam mattress topper and were very comfortable for about 3 weeks worth of camping. But now the cheap OEM mattress is sagging so much in the middle that I think we will have to get a whole new mattress anyway. So now I wish I hadn't wasted the money on the topper and had just gotten a new mattress to begin with.

When you purchased your replacement mattress, is it just a mattress you need or do you have to get something equivalent to a box spring?

I had hoped to use our current bed as the mattress but after reading the forums I discovered that it will be too large as it is a standard queen, not short queen.

The innerspring eurotop mattress requires no box spring. We have about 300 nights on ours, no complaints.

You have me beat Mark, over the past 5 years we have only logged about 170 nights BUT, no complaints and just as comfortable as the day we purchased it.

Thanks.  An uncomfortable bed isn't going to cut it.   Yes, I used to sleep on the ground, but if I wanted to keep doing that, wouldn't be investing in an R-Pod.  I now know to plan for a new bed.  :)

We went to our local furniture store and ordered a spring air pillow top innerspring in a short queen. 60x75....It fits perfectly in our 180. We slept on it for 3 nights when we camped a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome! We paid $299.00 + tax. Money well spent.

We replaced ours with one from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00981VPWE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has been great, with about 30 nights on it so far this year.  The biggest problem was getting rid of the old one.  I could not even give a new mattress away.  I finally cut the cover off to cut it up for the garbage.  It was only two bats of fiber fill, no wonder it was so terrible.  What a waste of resources.

We used our original for four seasons then replaced it with a memory foam from Amazon.  It sleeps fine.  Goodwill took the original and I assume sold it.

New mattress on the way for us too. The mattress in the 2017 model 180 is terrible. We ordered the 8" modern sleep cool gel memory foam mattress with a 25 year warranty for $230.00 Hope it's a good RV mattress.

Well here is an update. The new mattress arrived and it's a perfect fit. It is so comfy now that I can't get the better half up in the morning. Well worth the money.Big smile

It never dawned on me that a furniture or mattress store could order a queen short. Thought it would have to be a RV supplier like Camping World. Good to know! D'oh!

We have the 10" Queen RV Cool Memory Foam - Mid/Firm - 299.99, US made in Missouri, little tough putting fitted sheet on in out 178, but well worth it.  Came vacuum packed.  Wife says she bought on Ebay.  Happy.

I took the cover off and saw that it was one thick bat and two thin ones held together with plastic heat-sealed ties. Part of the batting went into replacing the too-soft foam in the 179's dinette end cushions. The rest is in the attic, packaged and waiting until I figure out what else I can do with it. Part will be re-doing the cushions since lessons learned tell me that I should use two thick bats and one thin one instead of one thick and 3 thin ones. I will also need to do like the manufacturer and figure out a way to tie the layers together so they don't shift.
