Dawg Lady. We are also new Podders having bought our 179 in March. We just returned from a 21 day adventure to Colorado in the pod and loved it, aside from a few new owner operators, the pod did great.
We are in Peachtree City and I know of at least 3 other podders in Peachtree City but have not met them yet.
Sounds like we should have a southern R-Pod Rondevous'

Hi Peg and Dave,  Glad to know there are other Georgia folks with pods. I love my 180 and so far have been on 3 short GA trips trying to learn how to work everything. I can't wait for my month long trip out West in July. I actually know 2 families that live in Peachtree City. My little town is in south GA  on I-75 between Cordele and Tifton and I don't know anyone in this area that has a pod but have had several to come look at mine and loved it!! Hope we can meet up one day.

Sara

We really enjoyed our 179 on our trip. Other than the mattress that tended to lose its support every thing worked great. Didn't get to use the AC because we didn't have a day over 65 but the heater worked really well. I hope you have great success with yours on your trip. While we were in Mesa Verde there was another 179 3 sites away from us but we never got to talk to them.
Where out west are you heading?

Plan to go to Badlands, Custer State Park, Tetons, and wind up in Cheyenne for Cheyenna Days and rodeos. Not having a set agenda just taking back roads and taking kayaks to paddle on rivers and fish. Can't wait for July to get here!!

On your way to the Tetons from Cheyenne go through the wind river area and through DuBois. I went through there last year and stopped at the Brooks range campground. About 7-10 miles up a dirt road but well worth it. One of the best areas I have visited in the area, actually enjoyed it more tha the Tetons. Excellent mountain biking, lots of open meadows and streams. I did not fish there but there were a lot that were.
We had planned to go through the Badlands this past trip but the weather was especially bad so we went to Mesa Verde and the 4 corners instead.
Have a great time!

Dave

Hi Peg & Dave. We just bought our 179 on Weds. & are camping at Black Rock Mt. SP.
We look forward to meeting other GA podders. Do you have any plans to camp this summer? What parks in GA have you tried? Deb & Mike

Dave, Did you pull your Pod thru the Wind River area or leave it parked in a campground? Wondering about the 13,000 elevation and breathing and the climb with camper.

Hi GADawgs! We are up in NC, but just spent a long Christmas weekend in Savannah with our 177, aka Taddpole. It was our/her maiden voyage, and great fun. Look forward to meeting more podders.

I was at Skidaway Island last year at the State park.  It was quite nice but small.  There is a lot to do in the area.  Savannah is a short distance away with a lot of restaurants and history.

I would love to hear about your trip out west. We have a 179 and when time allows, we want to head west. We lived in CO for six years, but we've never driven out west pulling a trailer. Any tips, suggestions or hints would be appreciated.  Be well and pedal on.  Kathleen

Dawglady, I'll be almost rolling through your town in mid April!, on our way to Savannah and then a slow drive up the coast to DC to visit my daughter. Month long drive around the country. Your coming west in July?(we're all the way west). Hope we run into each other!

If you are in the Raleigh area, I can recommend http://www.ncparks.gov/sites/default/files/ncparks/maps-and-brochures/falls-lake-hollypoint.pdf - Holly Point campground which is part of the Falls Lake State Recreation Area. We have enjoyed the two times we have stayed there. We will miss camping there this spring because our escaPOD will be going to the factory for repairs.

Other possibilities would be Jordan Lake (southwest of Raleigh) and Kerr Lake (north of Raleigh near the Virginia state line) State Recreation Areas. There are other state parks nearer the coast if you are going that way. If you will be headed up through the mountains, http://www.cherokeesmokies.com/camp/ - Cherokee Campground & Craig's Cabins in Cherokee, NC is a place we stayed and very much enjoyed.

Thanks Stephan,
I was getting ready to post a map with our basic route and see if people would give me the names of the coolest places to stay along the route. We leave on the 18th of April and have a few nights and stops that are planned. It's a blaze until we get east of the Mississippi, Then slower.  I've toured the west but never the east coast. I would like to do more than a short month but  that's all my customers would allow.
The route back is more northern. I'll make that map tomorrow. and make my own post in camping adventures and see how it goes.
Here's a link to eastward  route. Let me know your ideas!!

And i know you told me once, but how do you rename a link so it's not so long?

And Got a wild hair Saturday and put in 28" wide twin beds with a 18"walk up the middle and a nightstand over the storage, for a test trail. Dinette seat back lifts out to give me enough length, and got her side to 64" (she's short). Before I add drawers and finish it we're going on a test trip this weekend.

Make a short name for the link you want to use. Highlight the name and then click the globe and chain link icon above the box. It will open a dialog. Delete the text and paste the link in it. I always check the link and delete the extra http:// or https:// since that will be supplied by the drop-down menu on the left of the link box. When you click OK, the link will be posted.

I took a look at your map. It looks like you will be hugging the coast. Since you will be there, you could stop in at the https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1BKM5o7VUuOiGcnFhk23UN7o4Eoc&ll=34.2365524%2C-77.95437040000002&z=18# - Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, NC.

The bed modification is pretty cool. It won't work for the 179 though since the wardrobe would be in the way.

Hi GA Podders!  We got our 2017 R-Pod 180 last October and we are loving it!  We are near Atlanta have done lots of local camping around Lake Lanier and plan a trip west to Grand Teton next year. DawgLady, how was your trip? Any Podders in the ATL Metro?

We had a wonderful trip. Only glitch was a blow out that ripped off fender skirt. The Tetons are so beautiful I could visit them every year. Make sure to go to Custer State Park and drive the Needles Highway. ( with out Pod as there are 2 tunnels that are extremely narrow) Animals walking down the road for snacks and lots of bison. We camped in National Forests mostly and boondocked. Some awesome scenery. You will love it!!

I live in NW Georgia and just recently purchased an R Pod.  I would be interested in hearing about any upcoming camping events in and around Georgia.  I plan to stay in the general area for camping until I get some practice pulling and backing my little camper.

Dawg Lady et. al.
We too, are Podders who call middle Georgia home-base.

We started out with a used 177, which we took to various state parks across GA, FL and AL.

We'very recently upgraded the TV (Tacoma) and the Pod (180).

Lookin' forward to a future gathering of GA/Southeast Pod people.
