I got my pod last year used and had not checked the anode until this spring. When I pulled it out all that came was the thin center rod and the rest flaked off inside the water tank, probably the original anode. I got a new anode and one of those wands for flushing out the WH which seemed to work well. I did see a youtube video where the person showed flushing the WH with vinegar. The water was clear coming out after flushing. How necessary is this and has anyone done this to get ready for a new camping year? Should I do anything more?

Just put in the new anode, sanitize, camp on.
