Has anyone installed a cover or awning over your slide out?  If so, do you have pics of the install and what brand did you use?

I bought this one from Paha Que...what model POD do you have. There is a bigger one for the 179/180.

I decided I could not afford one of the commercial ones, so I made one. See my mods.

The rail above my slide out looks different than the other keder rails, plus it has two "down spouts" on either end. Does anyone know if the pahaque one will work on it?

It will. Look at the video in the link. It talks about the "down spouts."  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSTtGvc3aBg - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSTtGvc3aBg

Related question. The outside top of my slide out seems rough and "unfinished". Has anyone ever used a sealant like flexseal to treat the top?

Thanks Podster.  I saw that video myself but couldn't find the cover on the web sight.  I have your link to it saved in my favorites now. 😁

I like the simplicity of the cover but I'm not to keen on the bungees. I'm thinking that installing stainless steel snaps every 10-12 inches would look much nicer.  Something similar to the way RV skirting is installed.

We have the 176T, I'm also thinking about adding more snaps to the bottom of the tent to snap it to the bottom side of the bed.  There are only two on it now, one at both inside corners.  Our old pop up camper was fastened at several places all the way around the pirimiter.

The bungees were stopgap on the one I made. Currently, I am using parachute cord on the three middle ones that extend most of the way down and then short bungee cords for the rest. I did not have a chance to take pictures because I was getting ready to leave on a trip.

I also thought of using snaps. The problem was that I could not locate any suitable snaps before I had to leave, so I chose the best available option.

As for leaving it on or removing it, for now, I am removing it for travel. Ultimately, I want to figure out a way to roll and stow it in place. I just did not have time to do so.

As soon as I can, I'll post a couple of updated pictures.

I like that idea, but how would you attach snaps to the pod? I would hate to use screw snaps and I doubt "peel and stick" would last long.

I was thinking that stainless steel marine snaps with a dab of sealant under the snap would be ok. If it works on boats it should work on a camper.  The screw will mostly seal itself and the dab of sealant will take care of the rest.  Figured it wouldn't be any different then screwing a light fixture or outdoor speaker to the side.

These would work better than snaps for holding power.

I like that idea. I've seen those before but forgot about them.

SandD, Those have the same issue as snaps in that it will require drilling holes in the metal or the fiberglass. I would not mind if it were just long enough to go through and be backed up by a locknut or lockwasher and nut, but the screws are much too long. Cutting them off after installing would really be a pain. There would also be the risk of damaging it while doing so.

The cords and short bungees seem to be the better solution for now. I am still looking for a viable alternative.

Edit: I just posted a new picture in my mods which shows the improved attachment method I am using.
