We don't get delivery until the end of April, but we can't wait!  We've got big plans when we retire and the next few years with our 'pod' will be our practice sessions for a BIG western trip.

Our dealership (Can-Am RV Centre just outside London, ON) talked about XtraRide Towable Coverage.  Ball park figure was over $2000 CDN (if I remember correctly) for North American protection, that is actually transferable to the new owner should you sell your trailer.

What are typical things that can go wrong and we can decide if the coverage is warranted?

Thanks for having lots of awesome posts here!  We made our purchase and are planning modifications based on input from this forum.

Thanks Dave - I noticed that post yesterday as well!  We have a cabin, for now, just north of Arrowhead so we know the area.  We'll definitely keep it in mind and will likely be in touch for more information.

Thanks Camper Bob - I'm happy to hear that you don't anticipate 2K in repairs/problems over 5 years of ownership and use.  We appreciate the input.

Here in the states you can get an extra year of factory warranty for $150.00.  If available in Canada, your dealer should have the form.  You need to send it to FR within 10 days of purchase (i think). Give Forest River a call.

Good luck with your future adventures.

We have had our 177 now for 5 plus years.  As Leo said above, "save your money."  We have had zero issues with ours in regards to warranty problems.

Welcome Trix (K&M)from Ottawa close to David W. We are on year #5 with our 177 and as was mentioned, for $150 you get an extra year of warranty from FR that's not a bad deal. Save you money on that extra warranty. Hope to see you at Arrowhead in Sept 2017.

We are certainly feeling welcomed into the POD with all the welcomes and tips.  AND, we are likely going to pass on the extended warranty offered through our dealership (although, it is the Protective Xtraride - so we will 'negotiate' to see if the will offer a reduction in price as Up the Pitt mentioned in the other post (thanks for the link to it, Doug).  AND AND, sounds like the extra year for $150 might just be available to us (THANKS RON!).

SO much to plan and think about .... so exciting ... retirement needs to come sooner!!!

Thanks again everyone.

Great decision, we are 1 year ahead of Ron with our 177.  No complaints, a great travel trailer.  Hoping today will be our last big snow of the spring so we can get on with camping.

Thanks, Jato - we're ready to be done with the snow too (fortunately the dumping we're getting today is all melting as it falls).  Our daughter just finished 4 years of school & softball in Spring Arbor, MI ... so we're not completely missing watching spring ball in our mittens and touques lol.

It's reassuring to know others with more experience are thinking we're making the right choice, too, with the warranties.
