I was looking at the Winnebago 1780 drop trailer and it looks like the Rpod. Does anyone know if Winnebago and Forest River are the same?

Winnebago has pulled their "drop" trailer from the company website, like it never existed, poof! The pics I have seen look like a blatant Rpod copy, right down to the paintjob.  The big W is about to get their ass handed to them by FR in court.

EDIT: It looks like all the local dealers in New England are treating the Winnedrop as "radioactive". In all 6 states, there is only one unit out there.  There are a few down at a dealer in PA.  It looks like the big W completely stopped shipping units.

Second Edit: After finding a brochure online, W really shot themselves in the foot.  They even use the identical model numbers.  They not only copy the floorplans of the 171 and 178 almost exactly, they had the sheer stupidity to used "1710" and "1780" respectively - this would be like Ford suddenly releasing a Z-280 edition of the Mustang. how are they going to defend that in court? This is the most blatant counterfeit I have ever seen in the USA, this sort of infringement is something I more expect to see in China.  If I was an executive at W, heads would already be rolling.

Maybe Winnebago is owned by China then it would all make sense.

Oh snap. It's possible! After the market crash, the Chinese bought up controlling interests in a quite a few large US companies.  I could see RVs doing quite well in China, based on what I saw in Shanghai, they could fit 3 generations of a family in an RP-171. Confused

I thought it was simply an overpriced R-Pod rebadged as Winnebago under license. Like when a Camry can actually be a Lexus, or a 4runner is the same thing as a GX460. Different companies but share the same platform.

Warren Buffet owns FR now IIRC. He can have a jet full of lawyers anywhere in the country within hours. I wonder who green lighted this inevitable fiasco at W, it's almost like someone wanted to punish their own company.
