If the 183G is 20', does that mean I need to call it 24' to include the length of the tongue?

No the 20' includes the tongue, the living space is only 17'.

I'm sure Marwayne meant 17 feet, not 17 inches. Even in Canada they're not that small

American numeric notation uses a decimal point to separate integers from fractional portions but other parts of the world use a comma or other symbol. He was saying six and 96 thousandths, not six thousand ninety-six meters.
I first encountered this while studying German at the Defense Language Institute.

Well, I've learned something else from this forum. I thought it might be Canadian humor or another typo. So what would it have been if he really meant six thousand meters?
