My 2014 177 came with a black propane tank cover with a flat top. Does anyone know where to find a replacement exactly like it? I have searched online, Amazon, eTrailer, etc. with no luck.

Amazon does have one with a zipper, but that won't work because of the mounting brackets and hoses. It has to be Velcro that can be "intermittent" around the brackets.

Value RV Parts is a great company with several models of propane covers to choose from.  http://www.valuervparts.com/

I am ignorant about this.

Is a propane tank cover needed for practicality or just appearance??

Mostly cosmetic.  However, it does keep your tank, valve and regulator clean as your tow vehicle kicks up a lot of dirt.  It also protects your hose from exposure to the sun.  For me, it's just nice to have a relatively clean propane tank when you take it off to have it refilled.

the black ones have proven difficult to find anywhere other than on a new pod.. White was on the first 3 generations, and are pretty easy to find. A person could get one and use automotive trim spray dye to make it black.. or just go with white..

I saw an Airstream this last summer with aluminum tank covers that matched the trailer.  It looked sharp.  I wonder what it cost...

Given the cost of the Airstream, I would have to go to the bank and request a loan for it. Big smile

Just for the fun of it I looked up the cost at Airstreamsupply.com...$749.50 for the 30lb tank.

Personally, I really like the flat top version so that I have somewhere to set my hitch keys, sway bar pins, etc. during hookup.

It doesn't have to be black, but I can't even find a white version for a single 20lb tank with the flat top and a Velcro closure.

Thank you so much for the offer. If I don't have any luck getting a black one I may take you up on it! I'll PM you if so.
