We are picking up our new 2016 177 this Saturday. This is is our first RV and feeling rather spoiled at the thought of not having to sleep on the ground anymore.

We have lots of questions, but the main one right now is storage. If anyone can point to threads on using a Pod cover and how to store the pod when not winterized. We are planning to use it throughout the whole year, so what things need to be done every time it's put away without winterization. My concern is avoiding mold and mildew when not in use through the winter. Any helpful threads would be great!

Thanks!

P.S. We are located in southern Oregon.

Welcome from another (central) Oregonian!

We have a 177 and use this cover and it fits perfectly.

Welcome.  Your post is a bit confusing.  You can use it all winter long (I've camped in my pod and my current camper in the winter), but in Oregon it will need to be winterized all winter.

Hi Doug,

I guess what I am asking is if we are using the Pod once or twice a month during the winter, is the recommendation to go through the whole winterization process each after a trip that is outlined in this post?

http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1723&PID=14739&title=creating-an-instruction-maintanence-manual#14739

Or are there steps that can be omitted or substituted and still be prudent for storage. For instance, running a small ceramic heater plus RV anti-freeze in the Pod during the winter to help keep things from freezing. I'm assuming the above instructions are for those that know they will not use the pod for 3 or 4 months.

Thanks,

Dylan

"winterization" is just draining the fresh water and sewer systems, and protecting them by either flushing with air or pink stuff, and putting pink stuff in the traps to protect them (for the FW side) and dumping for the black and grey tanks. You can otherwise use everything else the pod has to offer. Takes minutes. We have winterized twice so far this year. Wink If you use air, you can skip the water heater bypass steps. But still make sure you drain the WH.

If you happen to live, camp, and travel through a part of Oregon that doesn't freeze, you don't have to winterize at all.

Enjoy your 177.  We have been blessed with ours, the only issue I have had with ours for the past 5 years is when I toasted the hot water element by not reversing the 3 valves after fillling the tank.  My bad.  Be prepared to give many tours as we rarely go anywhere w/o giving a "go-thru" to curious onlookers.  We have even given tours at gas stations and rest areas.  Wish Forest River would give us a stipend for all the times we have done this, and know that many others of you probably feel the same.Big smile
