SUCTION CUPS

We just purchased an Rpod 179(2015) in MI, drove it to my mother's ranch in Austin, TX.  Set up the Rdome yesterday and are now sitting for 3 days in torential rains.  What we are finding is the suction cups provided to hold the walls of the tent/awning/canopy to your Rpod are worthless.  They are not staying put and the lightest wind pops them off.  Anybody figure out a good solution for this problem?

Hi, yes...welcome to Texas, San Antonio here. The cups work good but require some TLC. Most of us like to warm them up to make the suction cup part a little more flexible. This is done by placing the cups inside a pan of very warm water, but I don't find this to be necessary.

Even if you don't warm them, wetting the cups first helps a lot. There is also a mechanical technique for sticking the cup correctly...it's kinda hard to explain, but...you have to pull the hook back, then stick the cup, push it against the surface, hold it there, then pull the hook down in position.

This video may help...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4U37YMV6Bg - Installing / Removing Those Clear Plastic Locking Suction Cups with Hooks

Trust me, the cups are far from worthless and they are generally not cheap to replace.

Good luck!
