I live in the Northeast, and last winter we had 5 feet of snow. This is my first winter owning the r-pod, I bought a cover and am wondering if I should do something more to protect the roof top components. I plan to knock off the snow as it falls, but if we have a winter like the last one that may be hard to keep up with.

| I live in MA as well and I simply knock off the snow after each storm. The only other thing I do is remove the metal fins from the antenna to prevent it from ripping the cover from the weight of the snow. |

| Thanks everyone...I was concerned about the antenna, I was thinking of covering them with some type of box, maybe a plastic tote, but taking them off sounds much easier |

When we lived up near Lake Erie, I used to put a basketball up on the roof to help protect the air conditioner and antenna. It also helped reduce puddle formation and get the melting snow to drain off the cover. Cheap and effective.

My son ended up taking the entire antenna off the roof. He disconnected the cable inside the camper which allowed him to undo the bolts holding it on and take the entire antenna off. This left a small tube about 4" high, he covered that with a small plastic container. If anyone wants more detail on how to do this I can find out.
On another note, we had no trouble putting the cover on, he stood in the bed of his pickup (he's 6'4" which helps) and I held the other side as he pulled it over. He put the container on after the cover was on. |

When I put the cover on my RP178, I used a milk crate upside down between the antenna and the air conditioner. I set it on a spare floor mat I had, soft side to the fiberglass roof. I hope its incremental height advantage will help protect the roof components.
