Just got our new 179 yesterday and am wondering what is under the seat in the slide out? Can you make a way to access it and use it for storage?

The seat is your slide out, underneath that cushion is the bottom of the slideout itself.

If you happened to have meant the ottoman things one of those is empty and useable for storage already usually and the other houses mechanical components of the slide.

By moved down I assume you mean less tall?  What some of us have done is to remove both pedestals
and on the mechanical side make a box over the components.  There are photos of this on the forum under mods or something like this.

I did this and find it much better.  I also got rid of the table and replaced it with a folding (collapsible) one from Costco.  I use a folding chair on the kitchen side which fits over the box over the wiring.
