My name is Don Kidd and I go by Capt. Kidd. We, my sister and I, took delivery of our new 2016 R179 yesterday. We spent yesterday afternoon and all day today trying to figure where to put everything.

We leave on our maiden voyage tomorrow. We are going to the Jackson Casino RV park in Jackson, CA for a 3 day rally with our Elks RV group.

I'll try to take some photos and post them when we get home.

Congratulations Capt.Kidd.We got our new 179 late this past summer and have been out 4 times and have one more trip planned for Thanksgiving week. We'll probably winterize then until next spring. For a little extra storage I put a shelf over the bed area from one window to the other.this holds light items in baskets that fit the shelf.I also installed a shelf in the top storage compartment of the cabinet on the right as you enter the pod. This makes a perfect pantry with easy access instead of trying to stoop down to access the area under the kitchen counter.Hope you have a great trip!

Welcome Capt Kid. We got our 179 last year and have a dozen trips on it. Mostly along the central coast of Calif, since most of the state was wiped out by drought.
The Elks have some great campgrounds and areas local to the lodges. Three nice campgrounds in Oregon. Look hard enough and find some lodges that sell Elks Lodge and Campground Map books. They may have up to 4 map books that cover much of the US.
With my 179 I was concerned a high wind might blow the door into the right fender tail light. Don't recall that happening, but WE have opened the door hard enough to bang it into the tail light. I solved the problem by attaching a small piece of sponge to the impact point of the door with silicone. I haven't heard of any better ideas. Most people overlook the sponge and it's better than a dented door or broken tail light.

Welcome to the group and the pod lifestyle. I am also a Elk, still a member of Lodge 1625, Lancaster CA. I've lived in ID for 8 years now and the nearest lodge is 80 miles away. Use the camper guide from the Elk's, some great campsites.
