Since they are so noisy, I was wondering if you can run them without the blower going? Would it still provide enough heat and operate safely?

Nope.  The fan automatically comes on with the furnace.  I don't believe it would be safe or even possible to alter it to do otherwise.  They are noisy, but all RV furnaces are.  In fact, I think our R-pod furnace is quieter than the one we had in our previous popup.

Depends on which fan you are talking about. If you have a digital thermostat in your pod, many people find the A/C fan will blow at the same time as the furnace (and its fan), and usually you don't want that. You can change the thermostat to fix that.

If you mean the furnace's own fan, Mountainrev is right. That fan activates a "sail switch" which is a fail-safe inside the furnace. If the fan doesn't blow the furnace will shut down.

There are other options - look up catalytic heaters like Mr. Buddy or Olympian Wave. Or if you have electric hookups use a small cube heater.
