Just tested the furnace in our brand new 171. Fan blows but no heat. Fan shuts off after a couple of minutes. The water heater kicks on just like it should. Ideas? Thanks.

Take it back to your dealer since it's under warranty. Let them five it out. But you might try it a few more times in case air just needs to be purged from the lines.

I lit a burner on the stove, turned on the water heater and let them burn for about five minutes. After that the furnace kicked right on. It's worked great ever since.

I tested my heater last weekend.  It appeared to work fine, but the AC blower insisted on coming on at the same time.  Is that the correct operation?

No. Go to your thermostat, change the fan setting from "ON" to "AU"..
