Hello Pod Community,

My name is Mike and I’ve been lurking and gathering information for quite a while now. I am located in Central Texas. The great information and knowledge gained from this forum really influenced my decision to order a 2016 R-pod 179. I ordered it this week from Couch’s RV Nation in Ohio. I had been trying to decide when to purchase and what model and finally settled on the 179 due to the Pod lay out.

Then when to purchase was decided now because my wife and I are avid motorcyclists and will be attending Wing Ding in Huntsville, Al in September. Well with an offer of $14500 from RV nation and being only 6 hrs away in Huntsville, now was the time to buy. Brannon at RV Nation so far has been excellent. But that’s expected when making the sale. I will see how customer service is upon pickup. Of course now we’ll be leaving the motorcycle at home but towing our trailer back.

The model to purchase was a tough one. We had to decide to choose between the 179, 182, or 183. The latter two we just really didn’t like the sleeping layout. Love the outside kitchen area though and bathroom layout on the 183. We have researched this purchase for at least 6 month before deciding.

Guess this is long enough, if I haven’t already bored you guys. When we get back to Texas in Sept. I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions so thanks in advance. By the way will be towing with a 2013 4.6 V8 Toyota Tundra with tow package. Just ordered a Prodigy 2 brake controller and will be installing an E2 WD anti-sway hitch. Hopefully I’ll have a pleasant towing experience. Not new to towing, spent 23 years U.S. Army Signal Corps towing 5 ton rigs with trailers.

Hope you survived this long write up. lol

Welcome to the group! You'll have no problem towing the 179 with your Tundra. Will be interested to hear about your gas mileage as we get 14 mpg on flat roads / 11 mpg on mountains with our manual trans FJ Cruiser.

The WD anti sway hitch makes it feel like there's nothing behind our vehicle except when we go uphill.
