We spent the weekend at http://www.wyomingtourism.org/things-to-do/detail/Boysen-State-Park/2161 - Boysen State Park in Wyoming fishing at the reservoir. We stayed at Tough Creek Campground, which had been flooded earlier this summer. The campground is a dry camping site on a peninsula at the lake. The sites were in decent shape after the floods. Some had rocks that washed into the slots, making getting your RV level more of a challenge.
Fishing was not good at all while we were out. The cleaning station was bone dry and we only managed to land 3 fish over the 3 days we spent on the lake. Eating Walleye did help make the sting of fishing for days on end with no fish go away.
The first few days were decent for weather, with highs in the low 80's, but Sunday was a back breaker, hitting 95. Ouch!!
There are a few nearby towns. To the north is Thermopolis, which is a 20 mile drive through Wind River Canyon. The canyon is a very nice drive and there are also camp sites along the river in this canyon. Thermopolis is home to Hot Springs State Park and claims to have the largest hot spring pool in the world. A short drive to the south will take you to Shoshoni, which has a nice diner (Mimi's Diner), which has a nice selection of malts and milkshakes.
We did see an R-Pod on I-25 heading north near Douglas, WY on Monday. Overall, we had a good time at the lake, I just wish that the fishing would have been better.
