I am looking at purchasing a 2nd hand newer r-dome to use with my 2010 171.  I know the new r-dome uses a 14mm keder while my pod only has the 9mm keder.  Which is easier, changing out the keder rail or refitting the dome with a new keder strip?

Where can I get 14mm keder rail?  Forest river has it but they would need to cut the rail in half as shipping something 16' long is expensive.

I think it would be easier to change the strip on the R Dome if you have access to a sewing machine.  You can buy the strip that fits into the rail that is already installed on you pod. Try a website that sells supplies for sails and sailboats.  Noah's Marine is one retailer, I'm sure that a Google search will show several.

good luck

I ordered the new keder channel from Forest River.

I had them cut it in half as it costs ~$200 to ship a 16' long box but only about ~$30 to ship an 8' long box.

I'll post some pictures once I get it installed.
