When I hand tighten my fresh water drain plug, it is only threaded about 2/3 of the way in. Should I use a pliers to tighten the plug until it is flush with the tank? It seems plenty tight the way it is, but I don't want it to work loose and fall out while driving.

As long as it is not leaking, you should be fine. You don't want to force it.

Agree with Leo B. My only concern would be with cross threading. If it's feels good, tightens up, and is engaging 3-5 threads you're good.

It's definitely not stripped and feels like it's solid, so I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks!

I have 2 suggestions fo degrees.r you regarding the fresh water drain plug-

if you are worried about leaks or see a small leak you can easily wrap the plug with a couple of wraps of plumber's teflon tape .  but i think a better solution is to  replace the plug with a drain valve. the pvc units are  easily available at any of the big box home improvement centers.  I used teflon tape on it also as I installed it. It's easier to drain-you don't have to crawl under and get wet, just turn the knob

Finger tight is fine - I can turn mine by hand.  When you start it, turn it backwards so you can feel the threads match and then screw it in.

I would be afraid of knocking that valve off, I just go hand tight and has been fine.
