Jstoy,

I'm playing a trip to Maine to camp and hike with my dog. What's a good month/ time of year to go?

Thanks,
Sam

Just got back from our 3 week trip.  Spent 1 week at Seeboomook wilderness campground at the tip of Moosehead LKW.  The 32 mile trip in on the logging roads was not bad.  1 Week in Fundy National park in New Brunswik Canada and then 5 days just North of Bar harbor.  August in Maine is the best.  Black flies are not bad and the weather is great.  My two goldens loved all the water they found to swim in.  They smell a bit moldy but a bath today is in order.

We will be at Camden Hills State campground Aug 26 - 29. First time in Maine in the pod, been in that area 3 times in 20 yrs in motels.Would prefer after labor day but may come back in October.

Will be trying saltwater fishing (from shore) and maybe some freshwater also. Any recommendations for  lobster shacks in the area?

There is the Lobster shack and Allison's Kennebunk both are exc\ellent and have quite a rivalry between them. Great fishing along the coast in that area!

We may visit friends in Poland, ME in August. We don't know anything about this part of Maine. Any suggestions, recommendations etc. about this area would be appreciated.
