Hi to you all,
we will be picking up our new 179 in the next couple of weeks. The dealer has offered a platinum shield protection for the body and fabric protection for the upholstery , do you guys think this is necessary. It seems pretty expensive. Could we do this ourselves?
Thanks Derek and Alison.

Welcome.  I agree they are just expensive dealer add-ons and nothing you need to worry about doing.

The exterior walls are gel-coated fiberglass.  Don't pay for what you already have.  Keep it clean and waxed.  A can of Scotchguard for the upholstery is cheap, too. Save your money.

Thanks for your help.
We have cancelled the shield and scotchguard and will probably eventually get a generator with the saved money. Alison however likes the idea of the gift for herself.

Our first trip will be Wasa lake in the Kootenays BC. We like it there as there is a dog beach for our elderly Bichon sh*tzu Holly. It is also a very beautiful area near the lovely town of Kimberly.

Enjoying being part of the club.
Derek and Alison.

For the gift, buy her a Honda 2000i generator.  She will love it and thank you each time you go dry camping.  You both win. Safe Travels.
