Only add pure distilled water.

Distilled water. If the batteries have evaporated some of the water, you just need to add it back in, distilled is preferable (no minerals). After you have added (not overfilled) enough, charge the battery fully, then after a few hours off the charger, check the electrolyte strength with a tester. You should be good to go. If a battery is VERY low on water, it may cause sulfation of the lead plates. You can buy distilled water cheaply at Wal-Mart, I think it is 99 cents per gallon.
