We bought a new 179 several weeks ago and I've just been learning from reading your posts, very helpful.  THANKS to you guys I fixed the refrig beeping, the hwh water by pass valves, bleeding air from gas lines, adding audio out from TV to Jenson stereo, loose screws and other little things.
My new stupid problem is that DVD player only plays in black and white on tv, normal tv watching is color, I haven't hit it with a hammer yet, being a retired construction engineer that is usually my final solution to such things.  Thanks for all your help, I will try to also help others with mods.
Carl

Welcome.  I don't have any ideas if the DVD player is built-in to the television.

If it involved an old-style chroma/luma connection (think Commodore computers from the 80's) or an S-video connection (which has chroma & luma pins), I'd say the chroma connection was bad, because that would give you a black and white picture.

Doug:
Thanks for your response on video wiring problem which dates you and me.
You made me check and the dealer or factory had video plug into wrong socket.
SmileThanks, Carl

Lol, yeah I can say "back in the day I was one of 2 kids in my middle school that had a computer".  "When I first got online I had a 300 baud modem and we chatted on BBSs".  Gettin' older....

Interesting.  Was it a standard yellow composite connection?

Yes it was, installer must have been color blind. Thanks for responding.
Flash from the Past that only computer people with maturity would understand and enjoy:
In 1970 at University of Florida a guy we didn't like in civil engineering, we got his goat good.
We distracted him and took his back pack full of FORTRAN 4 punch cards and shuffled them all up.
After he put them in the feeder computer alarms go off, his expression was priceless.
