This is how I modified the dinette sleeping system in my 2015 179:

In my unit the table was exactly 1" higher than the slide out surface, and 3" higher than the benches at the ends. I leveled things by up cutting pieces to fit from solid closed cell foam panels sold at home depot or lowes. This can support you but add practically no weight.

Now that everything is the same level, I made a new bench cushion that simply unfolds into a mattress covering the entire area (48"x75"). I ordered foam from one of the online stores that sells custom sizes, my mattress is 3.25" thick. This is a pic of the unfolded mattress. My wife sewed this cover which helps keep to two sides together at night. -the sewing was the biggest part of this podmod.

During the day the mattress is folded over like this-

We also made a vinyl cover for it, but we are still working on making covers for the 3" tall foam risers on each end of the table-

This uses the full sleeping space, it is easy to switch and there is nothing to stow. The dinette sleeping area these models come with is a joke, -it would not cost FR more than a couple hundred if even that to ship units like this....

Yes, im travling with kids and our use for the tv is the ocasional family movie, where i moved it to we can all watch comfortably. The original tv location to me made about as much sense as the dinette sleeping set up..

We are attempting something similar. Already leveled out the area with styrofoam like you did. Can you tell us what site you used to order foam? Also, was the foam expensive? Can buy futon from IKEA for $179?
Thanks for the tip.

Just replaced the original foam in 5 of the cushions of our 2016 - 178 with High Density Foam from the Foam Factory this week.  What an improvement.  The cost was about $168 for custom cut foam.  Their website address is below.

Hello jay! We are modifying the dinette in our 2015 179 as you did.  Seems to fit our needs and doesn't require a trip to Ikea.  Can you please send any directions on the cover your wife sewed/  Thank You

Interesting. Evidently my 2017 179.5 has a corrected version. All my cushions and table are flush. We did buy additional foam mattresses for the queen bed and the dinette bed just to make it softer.
