This was my second camping road trip in the new Pod and third road trip to Moab, Utah. I just want to say I had the most amazing camping experience of my life! I've stayed in Moab hotels during my previous mtn biking trips there and camping up on the Mesa at Dead Horse SP CG was an immeasurably better experience :) The CG is between the visitor's center and DH point; it's tucked away from the road and noise and is very quiet. There are only 20 spots; only electrical hook up, but there are toilet bathrooms with running water.

I've been to that campground in 2007 when I had a different RV. I like your picture, especially because in 4 days I'm going to pick up my 1st R-Pod, a 178! Hope you share some more pictures. Monty

I was there in 2009.  We camped for 6 weeks in my Honda Element.  I loved Dead horse.

I am hoping to tow my 177 out to MOAB this Fall, early to mid October. I have been researching campgrounds like crazy and Dead Horse Sounds nice. With electricity , no worries about evening heat (A/C) or battery levels for a week or two.

How much for the site per day/week? About how far from Moab town center is it? I plan on riding just about every day, and want to do the Whole Enchilada twice from Burro Pass by Shuttle. THe last two times I have been to Maob, my group also did a few days in Fruita. Amazing scenery and riding, very different from Connecticut. Every serious MTBer should make the trip at least once.

EDIT: Ok I see it's about 40 minutes from Moab. This might be too much driving for the rides I intend to do while there. I'll have to make a trip out to DHSP for a half day of biking if it's well regarded.

Nice!  I may go there later this month.

I noticed the campground asks that RVs bring their own water.  Did you?  If so, where did you fill up?  Somewhere in Moab?

Many good mountain biking trails in the park?

Thanks!

The mountain biking there is great!  Here's a link:  http://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/dead-horse/intrepid-trail/

And a map: http://stateparks.utah.gov/stateparks/wp-content/uploads/sites/26/2015/02/Final-Intrepid-Trail-System-Map.pdf

You'll need to make reservations for the campground well in advance as it is very popular.  There are also a couple of other campgrounds nearby if the one in the park is full.  I don't know if they are reservable.  The Moab area is one of my favorite places to visit, the hiking, biking and scenery can't be beat.
