The wife and I just signed the papers on a 179 today with pebble interior. We're moving up from a Coleman Taos pop-up and its my first summer with the FJ so we're anxious to do some camping! Last night we planned 9 camping trips around the Upper Peninsula where we're from and its going to be so much easier with a hard side camper. I have a forum for all of my hobbies so naturally I need on for the R-Pod. Looking forward to learning all I can! Thumbs Up

Thank you! We are picking the camper up today and I'll be sure to post some pics. My wife and I are very excited! Another good thing for today is that someone is driving 8 hours to buy our 2000 Coleman Taos. Its gonna be a good day!

Good news on the sale of the Coleman.  We were selling ours right when Somerset (who made the Colemans) went out of business which ruined our resale value, and even cut down on potential buyers for a while.

Sorry to hear your camper lost value like that, that's a bad deal. We didn't pick up the Pod because I forgot the hitch and ball but the dealer still had to do some stuff to do to the camper, so we'll get it tomorrow. What's good is we sold the Coleman for $2200 and we bought it for $1800 from the same dealer that's selling us the Pod.

Finally got some pics and I think I'm going to spend the night in it. So far we are really happy with our decision.

Welcome
We purchased our 179 in January and will be picking it up next week. The dealer has several sites on their property w/ hook-ups and has encouraged us to stay overnight and so we have a chance to review all that we learned and ask questions in the morning before we depart. Can't wait.
Have made many visits to the UP. Our older son graduated from MTU and made 26 weekend trips in his 4 years. I also travel to Copper Harbor every other year to catch the Queen to Isle Royale. Was there again last summer. We hope to take our pod to the UP as one of our trips this year.
All the best.

We live in Escanaba so we're only about an hour away from Marquette and about 3 from the Keweenaw. I'm an avid mountain biker so I go up to Marquette often. We have a camping trip planned for the The Keweenaw, Marquette, Tahquamenon Falls, and a few other places throughout the UP.

Congrats! I would be very interested to hear how your FJ Cruiser tows your new 179.

I have a 4Runner (V6) and test drove a 171 last week. Went pretty well, but was disappointed that my 4Runner does not have an overdrive off button. Engine power was not an issue, but the transmission liked to jump back and forth between 4th and overdrive.

I'll try to keep this updated so people know how the FJ pulls it. We might be pulling it again in the next couple of weeks, depends on the weather. Its wierd that the 4Runner doesn't have away to keep it locked in 4 vs OD.  My concern right now is that the FJ is already starting to sag too much in rear and we don't even have our dog and gear in the back. I'm pretty sure my fresh water tank is in the front of the pod too. The FJ has softer springs for flexing off road so I'm starting to think a WDH with sway bars would be wise especially with the shorter wheel base.
