Just notice that the caulking n the rear window does not go all the way around. Someone with a 179: please help me confirm if the caulking should be all around the window ? The bottom portion of mine does not have any caulking or sealant.

Welcome, my side windows have a gasket no caulk, the rear window has a gasket caulking on top and half way down the sides.

My rear window on our 179 looks just like that and I haven't had any problems.  I think its designed like that for drainage.

The guy that bought my 171 kept insisting that I had worked on (or had someone work on) my back window.  It came like you describe.  This was after the early problems with leaking rear windows so I hope he believed me when I told him that was how the factory did it after that problem with earlier models.

My 171 has a gasket and caulk around the entire rear window.  But, the window itself has a weep hole to let any accumulated water out.

I caulked all my side windows. They were just relying on the rubber gasket to seal them. Not acceptable to me. The rear window had caulk on it because the flat window is installed on a curved surface. The rubber gasket can not seal properly. I always assume that the manufacturer cuts corners or does a minimal job, and redo some things like caulking. The roofing caulk on my 179 was done very well by the factory. Congrats for that.
