We have an rpod 179. I have installed an extra battery (interstate SRM24) for a total of 2 batteries running in conjunction. Our pod is stored at a relatives house in the country miles away from our home. After a trip, what is the best way to recharge and maintain the batteries? Should we keep a trickle charger on constantly? Or just run the charger a few days before a trip? We are considering solar, but are not sure of what wattage and do we keep that on constantly also? |

Or you could just bring the battery home, where you could keep a better eye on it. I have done that for years when I had to store the bigger pre-Pod trailers. Just don't tip it over or drop it in transit....

Other than solar, either keep it plugged in, or use a trickle charger (which will use less power than the built-in converter, or the final solution. This solution is to disconnect the battery from the pod with a battery disconnect switch or fuse, then reconnect it once every 30 days and plug the pod in overnight. Then disconnect the pod and the battery the next day.
