I'm sure this has been mentioned in the past. Do you know when the 2016's will start arriving at dealerships?

thanks for the info. We just put our 171 up for sale and planning to buy the 179. I am a bit concerned with the separate black and gray tanks drains, especially while using a campground with full hook ups.

A lot of the Pods have the separate tank dump areas. If you're wondering if that would be changed on the 2016's it wouldn't be. They separate connections to dump or whether it's one together is based on the floorplans of each model and whether it will or will not accommodate both tanks being beside each other.
A lot of owners love and are moving to the 179, I think you'll enjoy it a lot.

Many RV's are set up this way, including both of ours, is a non issue.

What seems really silly is that on my 181G, they could easily have made one outlet. Might have cost $20 more, but the tanks are side by side. I saw someone did this mod on the other board, but could not find a link to what they did exactly. I think it was the guy who posted pics of the shelf above the bed. I might do mine that way, as soon as I can make sure there are no turds left in the tank.

Separate tanks aren't a big deal when camped on a site with full service. Only the gray tank should be left open; the black tank needs to wait until it is at least 2/3 full. That will take days, even a full week for a couple. So the black tank only needs to be connected maybe once or twice over a week of camping.

That's how I do it...no big deal.

I like the separate tanks. We fill about 10 gallons per day gray water with showers (15 when DW washes her long hair). Much less black water. With a 5 gallon bucket it's easy to empty every day or two @ camp wash station and the bucket stays [relatively] clean. I'm thinking my bucket might get a bit nasty from black tank nasties if the tank outlets were combined.

It's not deterrring me from buying the 179. But I haven't been able to sell the 171, and I got a bad trade in offer

Not trying to be glib, but a low trade in offer is a trade in offer none the less. Depends on how long you want to wait. One way of thinking about it is that this is a recreational activity, not a money making activity, and the sooner one can move on , the better.

My 181g from Goshen is one outlet. Must be a difference from being made at the Dallas plant then. Both do things a bit differently at times.

I didn't mind the low price because we found our Vibe for a very low price. The 171 models have always been popular I don't think you will have to much trouble selling it. Was at a RV show yesterday and looked at the 179's for the first time. They do have a lot of storage and I liked the rear kitchen just haven't been able to accept having a trailer with a slide. That's just me personally I know slides are popular the majority of campers have them now.

regarding the original post ..... we bought a 2014 R.178 at a Feb/14 RV show and took delivery of a 2015 model in May. Not sure when the model change happened. Was built in Indiana.

Last camper was double outlet. Current 171 has single outlet. I like the single outlet better, but it is a personal preference.
