Hi Just did maiden run to Death Valley, Palm Desert, Anza Borrego and Lake Havasu City in the new 179. Ran out of power once and went pretty low on LPG. Would like to install 2 6 volts and twin log cylinders. Does anyone have pictures of the racking system to accommodate both of these. Just curious so I don't have to design something that has already been tried. BTW my tow vehicle is a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd with 318cu in V-8. Pulls great! Thanks…..love my 179!!!

I haven't looked at dual batteries much, but you might already have space for them in the rack on the pod. I'm pretty sure there is room on my pod for 2 batteries. The rack for two lpg bottles is available on Amazon or probably just about any RV store. It will involve some cutting and grinding to get the single mount off and maybe some drilling to put the new one on, but it's pretty easy. I went with 2 20# bottles mostly because they are much easier to exchange and in my part of the world exchange locations are much more common than filling stations. With 30# bottles you can probably wait to have one filled though. The mounting system I got works for 20 or 30# bottles. Watch your tongue weight with all that. And you might consider a generator. It will recharge your batteries while providing 120v where you don't otherwise have it. Also, a Mr. Heater Big Buddy propane heater doesn't use the battery and it's quiet. Two batteries, two propane tanks, and the spare tire will fit on the tongue. I did it on a 172, but should work on 179. It does add to tongue weight so tweak your WDH and watch you turning radius. Later I added a 15 gallon "blue tank" strapped above the batteries.
