We've read about people getting locked in their campers by someone putting the assist bar in front of your door when you're in the camper. Your only way out is through the egress window. Has anyone come up with some sort of lock you could put on the handle to keep someone from closing it?

No.. just no. This came up last year. You can just bang the door from the inside and it WILL open.

Here let me find a video..

EDIT: we had several.. maybe 20 podders, attempt this last year, cross section of almost every pod model and year, and nobody couldn't bump the door and get out.

That's good to know! Going to try it on ours. I was going to fill the notches on the door side with JB Weld so you couldn't close the handle across the door.

This will be one of those myths that lives on for decades.

Also, on most floor plans, you can simply open the front window and reach out and flick the assist bar out of the way. Admittedly not on a 179..

We never had one of those assist bars. Sort of a strange concept coming from a Serro Scotty.
