We just took delivery of our 2015 179. My only real complaint is the sound quality of the speakers. I don't know if it's the Jensen system or the speakers, but I've got to believe those speakers could do with an upgrade. Has anyone replaced theirs?
Thanks,
Geoff in CT

It's the speakers that are so bad.  Your outside ones are even cheaper and worse.  I've seen them swapped out a few times, mostly on the outside but there was someone a few weeks ago re doing the entire inside entertainment system with all kinds of new better things.

Funny thing, on my 181G, I think the outside speakers sound relatively good, the inside ones though, UGH!  None are great though...

Thanks Travis. I took a look at the Jensen specs, only a 48 watt amp! Might just swap out the whole thing.

Keep us up to date what you went with. There's not much room in the ceiling for bigger speakers.

I think we'll just take our Bose sound link portable speaker with us on camping trips.

I'm thinking of going to the more powerful Jensen system, the 975?, and getting some decent surface mount speakers from Crutchfield, most likely Polk. I'm going to replace the exterior ones as well. The newer Jensen has 108 watts as opposed to the 48 there now, and HMI as well. Might get a new screen.

I assumed the low power amps in RVs were intentional to help conserve battery power when boon-docking.

Are they just cheap?

I truly don't know, but I'd rather get some better sound. My speakers sound like soup cans attached to a transistor radio

Understood, nothing worse than the constant nag of poor audio. Interesting, my stock setup actually sounds OK. Good luck! Let us know how it works out and anything learned during the process.

One speaker in our 178 sounded horrible.  I removed the speaker grille and found a very loose connection of one of the wires to the speaker.  After tweaking the connector with pliers, the sound was great.

Thanks. Our connections are fine, I checked them. Basically, sound is very much personal taste. I'd like ours to have more midrange and bass, so in going to make some changes.

I replaced the stock speakers, had to do some modifications but did improve the front sound a lot.
