We've braved cold (8 and 10 F lows), a blizzard (very heavy snow 2 years ago), good 'shine, and expensive wineries, and the time has come again.  Last year we did a joint campout with canvascampers.com, here is a link to their forum posting for this year's get-together:  http://canvascampers.com/index.php?topic=3180.0 - http://canvascampers.com/index.php?topic=3180.0

Unfortunately I had to miss last year's campout at the last minute due to illness (thought it was cat scratch fever, turned out to be an odd case of shingles), but I'm ready for this year.  It will be my first winter trip w/o the pod, though.  I'm not sure where in the loop the Canvas group plans to book, the podders have always taken the spots right across from, or next to, the bath house.

Looks like several takers on the canvas forum, so who else is in here?

Nobody has booked yet, we'll probably aim to be near the bathrooms as well since all the campers will be winterized.  Last year I was in 39 I think.  There are 3 Camping Cottages at the end of the loop with electric heat and beds that are only $45 per night.

Matt, how long does your system usually take to send out the registration confirmation?  JoeCamper said he needed a PM to get the code, so I registered, but so far no confirmation.

Cool about the BOGO Offer.  Just signed up over there to get a code.

Got a message from Joe Camper with the offer code.  I also updated the first post with additional links for reservations and the campground map.  The original links I posted were just for the park overview and the overview map.

I booked the night of the 16th and 17th.  Had to do it over the phone, can't do the promo online.  The guy I talked to couldn't apply the promo code, he had to transfer me to the "problem resolution staff", which he implied was PA staff and not one of the phone center contractors like him.  Then the new guy couldn't book the site I wanted at first, since the 1st guy still had it in his shopping cart.  Oh, and he never asked me for the promo code when he made the refund for the 2nd night.

Which is why I've always booked online...

We have 2 people booked for the rally, techntrek and 1 CanvasCamper member and 4 other CanvasCamper members who haven't booked yet but will probably go.  I have started gathering some firewood.....cut up pallets and some old pine wood I have..... so we can have a nice big fire on Saturday.  I hope to have the trailer full by the time the rally comes around.  I just drove past my pallet place and saw a few out for pickup Smile
Anyone thinking about coming?

Doug, did you get your camper out? Find any surprises?

Haven't moved the Salem from its winter parking spot yet, but probably should have before today's snow.  I may not be able to move it until that melts and with the deep cold over the next few days that won't be until at least Monday or Tuesday.  I did plug it in 2 days ago to top off the battery.

Worst case my pod is right next to the driveway and would be easy to hitch up ...

Cool

Not too bad, warmer than some prior years.  I just checked in with the trip thread on the Canvas forum, looks like a nice-sized group.

Glad to hear that Yak, sorry to hear that rpodcamper.

Hey rpodcamper, is that mom and pop burger joint open again - the one up the street from the dealer?  Last time we were up there it was closed due to a fire.

Homemade apple pie....I'll have a piece of that.

Just finished loading up the trailer.  I think we'll have enough wood for a small fire

Need more wood!

Let's say Yak's Apple Pie isn't the type you eat with a fork.  Wink

I WAS there.  Had a great time.  Awesome meeting Doug......didn't scare him away, he's joining us for our March Rally.

Good fire Friday night, Had a good Mountain Man Breakfast in the DO (OK, it was more of mountain man Brunch at 11am), Geocaching to find 2 caches and hid a gadget cache that we need to register to make it active, Fire Saturday night with Stew.  A couple of jokes were played on people (all willing participants and in good fun).  Sunday morning it was freezing rain.  Some left early and others Techntrek and Yak waited until after lunch/salt trucks/warmer weather to leave.

I Love Camping.  Doesn't matter the weather or who it is with.

Had an awesome time, looking forward to March.  I booked C35 if I remember right.  We'll have to get some pods up there.  Mental note - keep the fire OFF of the concrete!

I was glad I waited to leave, all the roads were salted so no problem getting home.
