I learned this trick from the park ranger at Scotty's castle in Death Valley.  They have problems with critters and roaches etc.  If they bait a mousetrap with food, it draws insects etc.  What they found is that mice are looking for two things -- food and nest lining.  So they use a cotton ball tied to the trigger of a mouse trap. I have tried it many times in my barn and it works well.

A piece of yarn works well too.  If insects aren't too bad - like inside the camper - a small dab of peanut butter on the yarn helps guide them to the spot.
