Wow is this door tight and hard to open.  We just took delivery on the 178.  the door sticks so tight that my wife can hardly open it from the inside.  And me too, I have to really force it to open.  I will bet the answer is to take it back to the dealer but it's a pain.  After it is about an inch open the door swings quite stiffly but that is how I think it's designed.
I haven't seen any quick easy remedy as I think it's just hung up until forced open.
Any similar experiences?

The doors are the new type friction hinge style type, they are meant to be like that.  It seems though you are experiencing an abnormal case of what the design is supposed to do.

I've not seen anything from Lippert about adjusting these hinges.

From what I've been told they will become more fluid the more you use them, and lubricating them some does seem to help.

Good luck

Have you checked the door frame to see if it is rubbing somewhere?  That would explain why it gets easier after it is open an inch.

Welcome rpodbend, is it the outside door that drags or the screen door? Our screen door has always dragged a little and when the trailer is not set level it can be a little tougher to open. Goose

I appreciate the feedback. Yup, I think it's the door frame. Screen door fine.

If you can see where it is rubbing, take a hammer and a block of wood and try to bang the frame out in that spot.  Hit the wood with the hammer so you don't leave any marks.  It won't take much movement in the frame to get the door to clear.

Screen door is not on the same friction hinges though.

Interested though to see what you end up finding out, keep us posted and hopefully it works better for you eventually.

Oh man!  All I did was take the latch on the door off and put it back on and whammo! all is good with the world and hey, my wife can actually get out of the R pod!   So it was just the adjustment on the latch.
Sorry to have put all you good people to work on something that was so simple to adjust.
Thanks to all

Oh, that's great.

Sorry I was misunderstanding you problem there.  Thought it was tight once opened and swinging.

So you adjusted the strike plate on the door frame or did you actually adjust the door lock latch part?

Either way, great job!!
