The following 2 pix show a cup or reservoir behind the bottom grate at the rear of my fridge. What's the part called & what's it supposed to do? Is it supposed to drain to the exterior? It's a drip pan, when the ice in your freezing compartment melts the water will drip into that container. I made my drip tube longer and have the water run out under the trailer. Other trailers have piece of tubing sticking out of the grill and get rid of the water that way. When winterizing you should empty the pan or it will freeze and could crack. ------------- If you want something done right, do it yourself. 2011 RP172, 2016 Tundra 5.7 Litre, Ltd. |

So the idea is that, unless you divert the water outside the trailer, the water will just collect in that pan and then, presumably, evaporate?

Yes, and it evaporates quite effectively. That black tube that it's clipped onto gets quite warm when the refrigerator is operating, which accelerates the evaporation. In 6 years of trailer fridge ownership I've never seen that cup with more than about 25% in it after a week of operation. ------------- The 178 club |
