New members:  2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (5.7L V8, class IV tow pkg, 7200# tow capacity), 2015 RPOD 178, Equalizer W.D. hitch, Tekonsha P3 brake controller.  We camp a lot in the Rockies, carry bikes and two kayaks, so for me this is the minimum setup.  In the past, we've had a class C rv, a diesel-pusher class A, a truck camper on an F-250, and now we're trying the travel trailer rig.  Just another adventure, should be fun!

You've tried them all, like us.  We've tent camped, pulled a popup tent trailer, had a 20' class C, several truck campers, and now the r-pod.  We like the idea of unhooking the trailer at a campground and then exploring with our truck.  Plus now we can put bikes and a lot more in the truck, not so easily done with other RVs.  Enjoy!

Welcome, we are new to the forum and to "podding" ourselves.  I have to ask, do you carry your kayaks on your TV or have you came up with a mod for the pod? I was thinking of putting the spare up front and adding a cargo carrier to the back of the pod and strapping the yaks down to it on their edge.

I carry two 13' Necky Manitou kayaks on top of the TV.  I'm not sure the hitch on the back of an RPOD is all that strong, the cross-member is only 1.5" and the hitch has a fairly low rating.  It's not just the weight, it's also the leverage being applied.  Others with more experience could weigh in on this (pun intended, LOL), but I probably wouldn't do it.

BTW, before I joined this forum I lurked here for about a year.  I got a lot of really useful information from Pod owners and so I just want to say "Thanks!" to everyone.

Welcome out of the darkness of lurking.  We all learn from the questions and answers that people post here.  Lots of knowledge, laughs and smiles can be had here. Smile
