On our 2015 171 pod we found out today what might be considered a design flaw on our exterior shower placement right over the exhaust for the heater. It was cold so we had the heater on inside and were winterizing the pod.  We had the shower door hanging down open to access the faucet.  It was less than 5 minutes before I lifted the door up and realized the heater exhaust was melting the plastic door.   Fortunately we found out before it melted through.  Ended up with just cosmetic melting.  The shower door hangs down over the heater exhaust by about 4 inches.  Our pod's first boo boo. Ouch

Yup, same problem I had.  I added a mini bungee cord which holds the door at a 90 degree angle when it is open.

That is a great idea!  Wish we had known.  Being knew again to trailers we did not even think about the door being so close and touching the top of the heater exhaust.  Just glad I was standing right there and smelled it.

Mine was after-market (probably one of the first pods with an outside shower) and I knew it was a downside with the location I chose.  No excuse all these years later now that it is a factory addition.  They should have added something to stop that.

On the 179 isn't it right about the electric inlet? At least above the furnace exhaust you could use one of those portable shower curtains and have a heated shower stall.

The R-pods are not the only units that place the shower right above the Heater.  I have seen others as we were looking around at other campers.  Some of the Sun Lines have them over the heater.

Bill, personally I wouldn't want to enclose around the heater exhaust or it could be your last shower...
