We are preparing to take our r-pod out for the first time. We tested the stove before and it worked fine. We switched the propane tank. At first the stove would not lite. We put water in the hot water heater and it wouldnt lite. I reclosed the tank and slowly opened and now one burner will stay lit very lowly. Is there something we are doing wrong?

No, according to Forest River's people at the International Rally, there is a "safety" valve in the propane valve that prevents "rapid discharge" of propane.  You just opened the valve too quick.

I ran into the same problem, there is a valve in the screw on connector that limits how fast gas can come out, this is a safety feature in case of an accident and the L.P. gas line is severed. Turn your gas valve on several hours before you want to use a gas appliance. After it has been open for a while try to light your stove and make sure both burners run normally. If they do you should be o.k. . I had to replace my hose from the tank to the regulator as it would not let gas flow at a normal rate. Now everything works great.

Didnt realize I was under hubby's name. LOL

Thanks so much! I had gone back and re-opened slowly and it stayed lit but very low fire. So we gave up and ate. I went back out and to my surprise.....YES! It works. I guess we just did not realize how long it would take to get the lines full.

Wish us luck! We are off on our first R-pod adventure tomorrow!

Instead of opening the valve quickly and then waiting a while for the flow limiter to reset, you can instead open the valve on the tank very slowly, which won't trigger it.  Force yourself to take a full minute from fully closed to fully open and you'll be fine.  Then light the stove to ensure the lines are purged of air, then try the fridge, water heater or furnace if needed.

Yep those excess flow things can be a PITA-  I had a tee to connect my gas grill up at the tank while leaving the trailer connected...durn thing would sometimes trigger when I had the grill on high and the water heater or furnace came on.
Found a proper size drill bit up into the tee would bore out the brass sleeve holding the check ball in...voila!  No more issues!

just need to purge the air in the line, run the burner max flow maybe 15 -20 seconds unlit with the door open.
Then everything works fine after that.

enjoy the fresh air
